Camp Activities

Campers will enjoy getting to ride our wonderful school horses twice a day. The rest of the day is filled with horse education and safety including learning about horse care, feed/nutrition, grooming, tacking and handling the horses safely. We also spend lots of time doing arts and crafts and playing pony games.

Each day campers will engage in different games and activities!

Arts and Crafts Activities: Team banners, photo frames, horse posters and tie dye shirts.

Horsemanship & Stable Management: Hands on learning about horse care, grooming, safe handling, cleaning tack, stall maintenance and feeding.

Pony Games: Scavenger hunts, painting a real horse, relay races, hobby horse jumping courses, hobby horse dressage, obstacle courses.

Friday Horse Show: For March Break Camp and Summer Camp Friday at 2:00 pm parents and friends are invited to join us at the barn to watch as all the campers put on a horse show to demonstrate their new skills! Campers are welcome to go home with parents after the show is done and horses are un tacked and groomed.

What Campers Need to Bring:

Attire: It is important that campers have appropriate attire for riding. This includes close fitting pants or jeans, tough boots that cover the ankle with at least a ½” heel, (such as rain boots) and thin gloves (such as garden gloves) MJM Riding School will provide an ASTM certified helmet to all riders at no charge. ALL riders will be required to wear a helmet when riding or working around horses. Wearing riding attire such as breeches, paddock boots and half chaps is also encouraged. Any camper that does not come to camp with riding attire will not be permitted to ride as it is a safety concern.

Our camps run all year round in different types of weather so please also dress your child appropriately for the weather with lots of layers when needed. In the summer months a change of clothing for water games or shorts for when not riding horses is recommended.

Food: Please pack a peanut free lunch, snacks and lots of water. Our facility is in a rural area on a well system and our water is non-potable. Please pack all the food and water your child will require for the day.

Craft Supplies: On Wednesday campers will have the opportunity to do their very own tie dye shirt! Please provide your child with a plain white cotton t-shirt for them to tie dye.
